Who We Are

What's the coaltion?

PLAY Sports = Promoting Local and Youth Sports

PLAYS is a unique coalition of thousands of stakeholders across the national and community youth sports industry. It was formed in April 2020 to unite a fragmented industry and continues to be an active advocate of support for youth development programs, young athletes, working families, coaches and volunteers across all 50 states, particularly those in under-resourced areas.

Our mission is to ensure the youth and local sports industry thrives by providing families, and especially youth, fair access to play opportunities for physical and mental health, character and leadership development. We believe it is a vital movement that will serve a key role in repairing a society that needs community, connectivity, and joy.

What we do

Four Pillars of Advocacy

  • LWCF Grants

Goal: Ensure direct resources are distributed to increase fair access to play spaces in underserved communities.

  • Funding Physical and Human Infrastructure for Play

Goal: Ensure money supports fair access to sports experiences by providing organizational capacity funding to programs and municipalities that can deliver infrastructure for play.

  • Family-Based Incentives for Play

Goal: Support families to get their kids out playing again. Middle and lower-income families continue to struggle with investing in play experiences, a dynamic worsened by a dangerous combination of the economic consequences of the global pandemic and diminished interest from inactivity.

  • Build Their Future

Goal: Influence legislation that allocates state tax revenue from legalized sports betting and targeted budget provisions to increase fair access to youth sports program experiences.
